Campaigns and Events

Zone level social mobilization for safe motherhood campaign in 21 districts of 7 zones to extend outreach to 155 CBOs, 150 elected representatives, 20 media representatives, Department of Health and Family welfare, Department of Women and child development. The campaign has been successfully implemented in 21 districts of 7 zones during 11-18th April. 

 

Advocacy and Capacity Building of Elected Representatives

Through the social mobilization campaigns, efforts were made to engage more than 150 sarpanch/Wardpanch/ Pradhans /MLA/ state Minister for Rural development in SM. At least 30 meetings of multiple stake holders/ media, elected representatives and CBOs were held.

 

Advocacy and Capacity Building of Media

More that 50 district and division level reporters were oriented on the issue of SM. As a result, 3 newspapers of Jaipur district covered the issue on 19th April’06- Rajasthan Patria, Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Navjyoti; 1 newspaper covered maternal health in Bikaner on 15th April’06 and ; 4 newspapers covered the issue in Jaisalmer on 16th April’06 

 

Advocacy and Capacity Building of Civil Society

Capacity building of civil society members on social mobilization was held. 30 representatives from CBOs and media participated in the workshop. During this workshop, the maternal health situation in the state was discussed. The reasons for maternal deaths were analyzed, components of safe motherhood were discussed; Concepts of Social Mobilization; communication were discussed and 13 messages for SM campaign were developed. A campaign implementation plan for 21 districts of all the seven zones of Rajasthan was developed.

 

Meetings with decision-makers and health officials

WRA Rajasthan met with the following officials - Director (FW) and MD-NRHM to discuss the implementation of Skilled Birth Attendance in the state and to discuss the implementation of Janai Surksha Yojna ; Programme officer-DWCD to discuss the implementation of Safe Motherhood and adolescent health programs through the ICDS; and Director-SIHFW to discuss the capacity building efforts by the institute for SBA.
